Born and bred in Whanganui. Meet the team behind Boyd Electrical.
I'm Matthew Boyd, and I started Boyd Electrical over 15 years ago right here in Whanganui, the place I was born and raised.
We love living here. The outdoors right on our doorstep and a good community vibe. It's home and always will be.
What started as just me and a ute has grown into a solid team of skilled electricians and apprentices. We've wired hundreds of homes, installed countless solar systems, kept businesses running, and helped Whanganui locals with everything from emergency callouts to full commercial fit outs.
Outside of electrical, I've done my own property developments over the years which means I can offer guidance on the wider build project too. Seeing different ways to do things from the other side gives us a perspective that most sparkies don't have.
The team now is Jack, Scott, Laura and Amy. Solid crew. Great attitudes, great work ethic, and they know their stuff. When they turn up to your door, you won't be disappointed.
When we're not working, you'll find us doing what we love. Biking, hunting up the river, and making the most of everything Whanganui has to offer.
We're proud to be locals serving locals. This is our community, and we're here for the long haul.
BEHIND THE TOOLS
Matthew Boyd
Matthew founded Boyd Electrical nearly 10 years ago with a mission to provide honest, quality electrical work to Whanganui. Born and bred in the region, he knows the local community inside out and treats every job like it's his own home. When he's not on the tools, you'll find him outdoors - mountain biking, hunting up the Whanganui River, or driving boats for River Adventures on weekends.
Jack Terrey
Jack started helping Matthew out when he was just 16 - doing fences, gardening, and digging trenches. When the opportunity came up to train as an electrician, Jack took the leap and hasn't looked back. Now one of the most experienced members of the team, Jack handles the complex jobs and mentors newer team members.
Scott Boyd
Scott is Matthew's brother and started out helping with fences, gardening, and digging trenches alongside Jack. He watched Jack take the leap into becoming an electrician, and two years later decided to follow suit. Recently qualified, Scott's now fully on the tools and continuing to develop his skills across all types of electrical work.
Laura Kidd
Laura joined the team as a fourth year apprentice and hit the ground running. She's picked things up fast, brings good energy to every job, and has quickly become one of the crew. She's on track to qualify soon and we're stoked to have her on board.

We're not some big company with offices all over the place. We're locals, born and bred in Whanganui, and this is where we'll stay.
